Welcome

Tooth & Claw is a ground-breaking education and communication initiative which explores and illustrates how modern Britain really feels about its predators and the issues that surround them.

Tooth & Claw provides a meeting place between science and anecdote and encourages constructive dialogue on predator issues.

Predators impact on us in a variety of ways and we find ourselves making value-judgements about whether a particular predator is a ‘good’ or a ‘bad’ animal. As many predators claw their way back into our lives, our feelings towards them reflect our changing relationship with nature.

What do predators mean to you?

Who are we?

Professional nature photographers Peter Cairns and Mark Hamblin have spent three years documenting those areas where increasingly, predators are coming into contact with our own activities and what this means to the people involved.

Our Aims

Our tagline says it all: Understanding Predators. Understanding Ourselves.

Tooth and Claw aims to improve understanding and knowledge of predator ecology and natural processes, allowing more fact-based information to inform people’s views.

Different people have different attitudes towards predators and in accepting this, we hope to encourage a climate of collaboration which focuses on solutions rather than problems.

How are we going to achieve this?

The buzzwords in this project are: Engage. Inspire. Inform.

In providing a visually spectacular and thought-provoking insight into our relationship alongside predators, a wide and varied audience can find relevance and value in the role of predators in their lives, thus inspiring a stronger connection with the natural world.
